Spirit is no respecter of persons.

Spirit calling...

How does Spirit come through to a medium?

Do you believe Spirit chooses to communicate with a specific medium or do you feel it’s like what’s said about God in the bible, that Spirit is “no respecter of persons”?

To me, it's more of a communication line that we as mediums intercept; a general flow that we pick up on, like answering the phone. The "caller" wishes to speak to someone in our realm, in the vicinity of where we are working, and sends out their emotions toward that person.

When we as mediums become aware of our link, we are tapping into that communication, much like answering the phone for the recipient.

We can ask our guides to help us reach certain spirits (like what I do when I draw a spirit portrait with an intention to present a likeness for someone), and whoever gets that message in the Spirit world, and is able to send their communications through, has the best chance of being presented as a communicator at that moment. That's why more than one medium can tune into a communication, not unlike a party line.

These lines of communication are constantly being sent back and forth between the two realms. On our incarnate end, a person's sensitivity combined with skillful communication of the messages are the things that make a person a "better" medium. Take the rappings at Hydesville. Apparently, they were heard in the cottage prior to the Fox family living there. It took a curious nature and an intent to communicate by the Fox sisters to make sense of the phenomena. The sisters opened up their sensitivities, developed their abilities and were lifelong mediums.

I don't think the peddler spirit who died in that Hydesville cottage said to himself, "Ah...Kate and Maggie Fox...I choose you to hear me!" He had been trying to communicate and finally was successful. On March 31, 1848 he touched the sympathies of two sensitive young women and a new religion was born.
