Awareness is available to us all the time and pulls us in through the form of seeking happiness.
This morning I rode my bike to work and while on my usual route, making a left turn at a green light, a car nearly careened into me as the driver hurried through her red light.
Although my instinct was to stop and spit out, “@#%! you!” (which of course I did out of shock of nearly getting hit), I immediately regretted my action.
As I rode off, I felt the pull of happiness and wished I said to the distracted driver: “Forgive you!”
Forgiveness is so powerful. It’s in surrendering, letting go of the mistakes of others, that we experience freedom ourselves.
Today, I remembered to send gladness and forgiveness to others as I allowed grace to pull me closer toward itself.
Tonight, I will look back and be thankful for the people who have forgiven me.
