We are each a lens in God’s periscope. Imagine that God is the ocean, an infinite ocean of awareness, and like the captain of a vast submarine, God sends up a periscope into the world to know what is outside its infinite space.
Because God is infinite, God cannot inhabit the finite space. Like a drop of water that rises up into the air, it is no longer “the ocean,” but a drop of water.
Once a drop of water rises into the world, it becomes a finite object.
Back to God’s submarine: imagine it is capable of sending up innumerable periscopes in order to view finite space.
The periscopes are manufactured by the same company, iScope, but there are regional headquarters which produce periscope lenses from the same pattern.
However, they are slightly varied due to the nature of the materials from that region. Some lenses have a wider view, some may see better at night, some may be clouded and imperfect, but they all offer God a way to experience the world.
My lens and your lens rise up from the same submarine of God’s infinite awareness, but we are only temporarily able to experience our glimpse of the finite world because that is the nature of periscopes.
Once our jobs are done, our periscopes dissolve as each sinks back into God’s infinite awareness.
Mediums have a wider view. Their lenses focus into the surface of infinite awareness, to come close enough to pick up on and describe the residues of former lenses, as nothing really disappears.
The best focus is through a relaxed lens. Aim to view these residues with no resistance, to be curious, to be open to what floats up in our experience. Be that lens which takes in whatever comes into view without prejudice, without expectations, and enjoy the experience.
