Mastering the basics.

One of the mediums at the Spiritualist church service I attended on Sunday began her demonstration by saying, "As I was sitting there, I saw bees. And I was watching the bees fly around the room, they flew in circles over everyone’s heads..."

After going on about the bees, she then gave a message about a future event to a gentleman upon whom the bees landed (I hoped he didn’t get stung!).

She never once referred to a spirit communicator. This medium got so involved with her vision and narrative, she just didn't have a clue as to what the point of her communication was.

The point of a medium’s communication is to give evidence that the spirits of our departed loved ones are eternal. It is not to prove that mediums are good storytellers, entertainers, or psychic fortune tellers.

Mediums in training should be less involved with narratives, even if memories or detailed stories about the spirit communicator are accepted. We mediums must learn to simply focus on talking to the communicator as if he or she was right there in front of us, waiting to speak to their family member or friend.

We should practice in class by saying what their face looks like, what their personality is like and what their relationship is to the recipient. We should look directly at our spirit communicator, give enough specifics to identify them, find the recipient, then stop. Give no other evidence, no message. Then thank the spirit for their help in creating a disciplined approach to getting a positive ID.

Once we master the basics (until we get it right all the time), then we can start giving the communicator’s other evidence: their memories, their stories and their personal, specific, and even more amazing message in their own way of speaking.

Why would it be a more amazing message? Because with 100% accuracy, with such a strong link, there is no chance of the medium falling back on platitudes.

The medium with the bees got it backwards. She was too wrapped up in presenting her flight of fancy and not the facts, so her recipient lost out...got stung...by a careless communication.
